Demolition Set to Begin on Eklutna’s ‘Deadbeat Dam’

A long-orphaned dam on Alaska’s Eklutna River is getting demolished after sitting unused for over 60 years. The Conservation Fund and Eklutna Inc. are dismantling the dam this summer, with the hopes of restoring salmon runs. When demolition is complete, the area will eventually return to its natural state, with high canyon walls visible once again.
