Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia was once on a main thoroughfare for travelers going from Northwest Georgia to Tennessee. The route passed through Chickamauga-Chattanooga National Military Park, the site of the Civil War Battle of Chickamauga, and the charming historic town at its gateway.
